How to Recycle Your Eclipse Glasses and Support Astronomical Education
In the wake of a total solar eclipse, many are left wondering what to do with their now unnecessary eclipse glasses. Fortunately, there are several organizations dedicated to repurposing these specialized glasses for future astronomical events, ensuring they continue to serve a purpose long after the initial event has passed.
Organizations like Astronomers Without Borders and Eclipse Glasses USA are collecting used but undamaged eclipse glasses for future events. These glasses can be dropped off at various partner locations, including Warby Parker store at the Streets at Southpoint, or sent directly to designated addresses. This effort not only recycles and repurposes specialized glasses but also promotes global engagement with astronomy.

Search Your Pockets: Unclaimed $394K Cash 5 Prize in Durham Expires Soon

A winning Carolina Cash 5 lottery ticket sold in Durham, North Carolina, is searching for its owner. Worth $394,216, this ticket is part of a trio that collectively hit a jackpot of $1.18 million in the drawing on October 17. However, time is running out to claim the prize. The deadline is set for April 15, at which point the ticket will expire. Purchased at Parkwood Convenience on Revere Road, the ticket matched all five white balls, with winning numbers 9-11-14-30-34, to secure its share of the jackpot.
Mark Michalko, the executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery is urging everyone in the Durham area to thoroughly search their homes and double-check any lottery tickets they find. He expressed eagerness to congratulate the winner and celebrate their windfall. The hunt is on as the 180 days to claim prizes from the October drawing nears its end, with the ticket needing to be presented at the lottery headquarters in Raleigh by 5 p.m. on April 15. To locate the ticket holder before it's too late, the Education Lottery is broadcasting the search through statewide media and online channels, hoping to ensure that the lucky winner doesn't miss out on their significant prize.
