When Loss Meets Logistics: Meri Lynch Brings Compassion to Estate Management
New NC Estate Services helps Chapel Hill families navigate one of life's most overwhelming transitions

Meri Lynch, real estate specialist, is finding new ways to help families during difficult times.
Meet Meri Lynch: NC Estate Services for Grieving Families
There's a moment that comes after the funeral, after the casseroles stop arriving, when grief collides with an overwhelming reality: someone needs to change the locks, mow the lawn, rehome the cat, and somehow navigate mountains of paperwork while siblings can't agree on who gets mom's china.
For Chapel Hill families facing this impossible juggling act, Meri Lynch has created a lifeline.
Her new business, NC Estate Services, addresses a gap she discovered through an unexpected source—her daughter, an estate attorney in New York, who shared stories of families drowning in the logistics of closing out estates while trying to grieve. "She said, 'Mom, they really need someone to help them do this,'" Meri recalls. "And it just hit me. I said, 'I can do that.'"

Leave Your Leaves—And Get a Free Yard Sign
This fall, skip the rake and let nature do the work! The Town of Chapel Hill and Orange County are encouraging residents to "Leave Your Leaves" this season—a simple practice that creates nutrient-rich soil, supports beneficial insects and wildlife, reduces stormwater runoff, and helps trees thrive.
Take the pledge and you'll receive a free yard sign to showcase your commitment to climate resilience and biodiversity. It's one of the easiest ways to support the environment right in your own backyard—literally.
Insider Tip: Worried about aesthetics? Use a mulching mower to shred leaves into smaller pieces that break down faster, or rake them from your lawn into garden beds where they'll provide winter insulation for plants.
Yard signs are available to Orange County residents while supplies last.
N. Estes Drive Reopens After Gas Leak

The Chapel Hill Fire Department responded to the incident just after 6:00 p.m., closing the road between Halifax Road and Granville Road after confirming an active leak and notifying Enbridge Gas. The street reopened by 7:55 p.m. No injuries were reported.
